The sources behind the opportunity

The benchmark, discovery references and product boundaries used on this website.

The 2026 SMB benchmark

Fast Hippo Media’s SMB AI Visibility Benchmark Report 2026 models more than 200 U.S. small and midsize service businesses, using benchmark analysis and research synthesis.

Its AI Visibility Index weights content readiness (25%), structured-data health (20%), AI citation presence (20%), local signals (20%), and measurement and capture (15%). The modeled average is 30/100.

The homepage’s “~70%” describes the remainder of that modeled score, using the publisher’s framing of unclaimed opportunity. It is not a measured share of customers, queries, traffic, citations or recommendations. The source identifies 2026 but no precise publication date. Source reviewed September 6, 2026.

How discovery is changing

Google’s guidance on AI features and websites explains how AI Overviews and AI Mode help people explore questions, comparisons and website sources. Ordinary SEO fundamentals remain relevant. Google does not require special AI files or schema for those features.

OpenAI’s explanation of ChatGPT Search describes web citations and local business discovery.

Starting early creates time to learn. Neither these sources nor Linkline guarantee placement, rankings, traffic or an enduring first-mover advantage.

What agent readiness means here

Markdown, discovery metadata, a public API and MCP let agents inspect intentionally public information. These capabilities do not guarantee an AI recommendation.

The live Cloudflare Agent Readiness scanner defines the external checks. The readiness page separates that external result from implemented site capabilities and owned-site monitoring.
